Michael J. Leamy, Scribbler
Michael Leamy is an irrepressible story keeper. His wife, Lynda, was insistent that he record some of the stories he had gleaned over the years in a book. The result was Among the Stones, a book that traces the history of Greenwood Cemetery, located near Astoria, Oregon, and the Leamys’ history at the cemetery in their life among the stones. That was followed by Between the Dates, a scrapbook of life-story snippets from people buried at Greenwood. Soon to come will be another scrapbook entitled Beneath the Sod.
Fingers dancing on the computer keys churned out devotionals, a children’s book, and a stack of clean and wholesome historical fiction. The fiction juxtaposes fictional characters with historic figures that populated the era in which the story is set.
Pastor Mike officiated at a wedding at Greenwood, transforming the historic cemetery into the Greenwood Event Center---for a day, anyway.

Among The Stones
Clatsop County is home to historic Greenwood Cemetery, which overlooks Young’s River, with vistas opening all the way to Cape Disappointment Lighthouse at the mouth of the Columbia. The author recounts the cemetery's early history and adds his family's personal history of ownership and "life among the stones" in this outdoor museum, which houses the actors of the county’s drama dating back to 1891.

Between The Dates
On each stone in a cemetery, a life story lies hidden. Sometimes, the story is lost to future generations. Sometimes, fragments remain. This book by Michael Leamy gathers fragments into a snapshot of some seventy-five people buried in Clatsop County, Oregon’s Greenwood Cemetery. These fragments are threads in the tapestry of the county’s history.

Soon to be published
Lynda: [Poke...poke...nudge-nudge…] “There are more people out there. You need another book.”
ME: *SIGH* “All right. It’s winter. This should not take more than a few months.”
Now it is almost the end of April. We are proofreading the next cemetery book. Beneath the Sod will soon be ready. Watch here for the release announcement. The research and writing got interrupted by two books of historical fiction. Those are published, so the next cemetery book has been unearthed and is moving toward publication.
